The Home Improvement Star’s Cars!
Tim Allen is a household name in American cinema. He is known for his roles in Home Improvement, The Shaggy Dog, Wild Hogs, and also a voice role in the Toy Story franchise, among many others.
Beyond making us crack up on the sitcom set or on the big screen, Allen is also a car enthusiast who just opened his garage to the Petersen Automotive Museum’s YouTube channel to show us the cars he’s collected over the years.
Petersen Automotive Museum on YouTube
The Petersen Automotive Museum brought us this garage tour and published it on its YouTube channel as part of a new series called “Open Garage.” This series premiered on October 10, 2026, and will take you “inside the private garages and car collections of some of the world’s most passionate car collectors!”
Tim Allen is the first-ever guest in the pilot episode, and he opens up his garage to the cameras to reveal a collection of vintage European sports cars, American classics, and modern performance cars.
Now, you’d think the episode would lead with the old and rare stuff, but apparently Allen also loves speed. The first car he showed the cameras was a red Ford Mustang GTD. Allen calls it the “driving felony,” a nod to how easy it is to get in trouble with the law when behind the wheel of one of the most exciting Ford Mustangs ever created.

Historic Models, Daily Driver, Modern Marvels
Allen’s been into cars for a while now, and his fondness for four-wheelers has led him to a few rare cars over the years, including a Ford RS200, a Porsche 356, a Porsche 911S, a Jaguar XKE, and a Ferrari 330 GTC. The other part of his collection is cars he collected throughout his career: modern performance cars (including a Dodge Demon), classic Pontiacs, and Classic Fords.
Allen will be back in another part to talk about the rest of his collection, since there’s just so much to cover. If you like what you see, tell the Petersen Automotive Museum. Now, I wonder who will be next in line to open up their garage to this series?
