The numbers are in, and they make for uncomfortable reading at Kia HQ. The brand’s first mainstream pickup truck, the Tasman, only sold 4,196 units since its 2025 launch in Australia. That’s against a target of 20,000. Higher trims are reportedly holding their own, but Kia is struggling to crack the high-volume fleet market, and that gap tells the whole story. Fleet managers are a conservative bunch; they’d rather spend millions on trucks they know can survive a decade of punishment. That’s why fleet sales across Australia and Africa remain firmly in the hands of the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-Max.
