Mercedes-Benz has been in the van business for many years, but its vans have mostly been for purely practical, commercial purposes. The Sprinters and V-Class (known as Metris in America) are mainly work vehicles or shuttles. The automaker’s next van, the VLE-Class, isn’t just meant to be something practical, but something luxurious like a Mercedes sedan or SUV, hence a launch with electric power, and plans to add a Maybach variant in the future.
