Genesis GV90 Specs Leak With a Huge Battery and Nearly 300 Miles of Range

Genesis Is Almost Ready to Show Its Flagship EV

The Genesis GV90 is gearing up to take the crown as the brand’s new flagship EV, slotting in above the GV80 as the biggest and most opulent SUV in the lineup. It borrows plenty from the wild Neolun Concept we saw earlier this year, and with camouflaged prototypes popping up all over the place, we’ve already gotten a few sneak peeks before Genesis finally takes the wraps off later this month.

But now, thanks to a Korean certification filing from August 10, we’ve got a few more puzzle pieces to play with. Unearthed by the Korean Car Blog, these documents spill the beans on the GV90’s battery, motors, weight, and even its local driving range.

The Certification Filing Gives Us the Numbers

The Korean certification docs confirm what we suspected: there’s a seriously hefty electric SUV hiding beneath all that luxury. Under the skin, you get a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, with the front motor pushing out 240 kW (322 hp) and the rear churning out 250 kW (335 hp). Korean Car Blog claims the total system output is 490 kW, or a wild 657 hp, but don’t take that number as gospel – adding up motor outputs isn’t always that simple.

The battery is listed at 703 volts and 175.7 Ah, which works out to roughly 123.5 kWh of total capacity. The previously reported usable capacity is around 115 kWh.

As for weight, the GV90 tips the scales at a hefty 6,680 pounds curb weight, and a gross vehicle weight rating of 8,080 pounds. No shocker there, considering this is a full-size, three-row SUV loaded up with a massive battery and all the luxury trimmings.

Range-wise, the GV90 is rated for 299 miles on South Korea’s combined cycle, with city driving bumping that up to 312 miles and highway runs dropping it to 282. If you’re braving the cold, expect a combined figure of 268 miles.

The database also reveals both six- and seven-seat versions, plus a choice of 22- or 24-inch wheels. All the variants shown get the same 299-mile combined rating, but don’t count on every GV90 in every market matching those numbers.

That’s the catch with these leaks: the certification only covers certain trims, not the whole GV90 family. Genesis could easily mix things up with different motors, wheels, weights, batteries, or range numbers depending on where the SUV lands.

The Most Opulent Genesis SUV

Numbers aside, the GV90 is set to bring a lot of the Neolun Concept’s wild design into the real world. Spied prototypes have already confirmed those eye-catching coach doors, and early sightings suggest a three-row cabin that’s all about taking the full-size SUV game upmarket.

With these new specs filling in some of the blanks, the GV90 is shaping up to be Genesis’ boldest move yet into the luxury SUV stratosphere. The big question – final specs, pricing, and just how much of the Neolun DNA makes it to production – should all get answered when Genesis finally shows us the real thing later this month.
