Car companies often take the best bits from each other when they collaborate. Think Subaru and Toyota with the GR86/BRZ, or even the McLaren F1 with its BMW-sourced V12 heart. The Italians are experts at this, and in the 2000s, Maserati went to Ferrari to design the engine for its sedan. Unfortunately, almost nobody remembers.
