One of the most intriguing advantages to an electric car is its potential to be used as an energy source. Some cars take a rudimentary approach to this useful feature, like the Hyundai Ioniq 5’s available vehicle-to-load (V2L) 120-volt outlet adapter that plugs into the charge port. Others, like the 2027 Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, go a little more advanced, allowing the cars to directly power a home during a power outage – a feature called Powershare, borrowed from the Cybertruck.
