Nissan’s GT-R has a cult following today, and is considered a JDM icon and a legend, and for good reason. It has a rich history dating back to the first Skyline, made in 1957. That model was produced by Prince Motor Company, then by Nissan when PMC was acquired in 1966. In 1964, though, the first racing-oriented GT Skyline was introduced under the Prince Motors badge. The Skyline officially became a Nissan in 1969 when the automaker revealed its Skyline GT-R at the Tokyo Motor Show – its inline-6-cylinder engine made 160 horsepower, and the model was on sale until 1972. It won an astonishing 52 races in Japan in just three years of competition.
