Tesla is setting its sights on the East Coast in a big way with a massive new Supercharger installation. The electric vehicle pioneer is actively developing a highly anticipated site in New York City that is planned to house between 64 and 68 individual stalls. Once completed, this sprawling hub will cement itself as a crucial artery for travelers navigating the notoriously congested Northeast corridor.
The sheer scale of this impending project cannot be overstated. If it hits the maximum planned capacity of 68 stalls, it will officially tie the existing station in Halifax, North Carolina, for the title of the largest Supercharger on the entire Eastern Seaboard. This represents a huge leap in urban infrastructure and proves the automaker is serious about meeting skyrocketing charging demands.

The new charging hub will be situated at 48-26 54th Road in Maspeth, Queens. Because Maspeth sits right along I-495, it serves as a perfect pit stop for drivers hopping off the highway. Travelers heading out to Long Island or commuting into Manhattan can easily juice up their batteries before continuing their daily routines or weekend road trips.
Building outside of Manhattan is a strategic necessity for the network. Currently, Manhattan only hosts five Superchargers, and those sites are notoriously constrained, often offering a mere four plugs per location. Boroughs like Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx simply offer the abundant real estate required for these massive installations. With brands like Dodge and Jeep successfully joining the fold, securing expansive lots is more vital than ever to support the massive surge of non-Tesla users.
Furthermore, this location is set to feature two dedicated pull-through stalls specifically designed for vehicles towing trailers. Accommodating larger towing setups and solving annoying charging problems has become a clear priority as EV ownership expands to more utilitarian demographics. You will no longer have to unhitch your camper or work trailer just to reach a charging cable.
