Subaru Impreza Gets $2,000 Price Cut And An Extra 28 HP

Affordability is on everyone’s mind as gas prices are hovering around $4.50 per gallon and the average new car costs nearly $50,000. Thankfully, Subaru is answering the call as they’ve slashed prices on the 2027 Impreza.

Set to arrive at dealerships late this year, the model will begin at $24,595. That’s $2,000 less than the 2026 Impreza Sport, which started at $26,595.

As part of the realignment, the Sport has been replaced by a new Base trim. Subaru didn’t say much about it, but the model comes with LED steering-responsive headlights as well as 17-inch alloy wheels with a dark gray finish. The Pure Red paint job has also been replaced by a new Ignition Red color.

The interior is pretty basic, featuring black cloth seats, a four-speaker audio system, and dual 7-inch displays with wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The model also has split-folding rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and keyless access with a push-button ignition.

While the cabin reeks of cost-cutting, Subaru said interior quality has been improved for 2027. As evidence, they pointed to improved door panel materials and updated stitching on the center console.

The EyeSight driver assistance system comes standard and provides Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Pre-Collision Braking, and Emergency Stop Assist. Buyers will also find Lane Keep Assist as well as Lane Departure and Sway Warning.

Power is provided by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a continuously variable transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system.

Price Cut Comes At A Cost

While the $2,000 savings is welcome, penny-pinchers were hard at work as last year’s Sport trim was far better equipped. As a refresher, it had LED fog lights and larger 18-inch alloy wheels. The model also had two additional speakers and an 11.6-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

That being said, the Sport didn’t live up to its name as it was powered by a 2.0-liter engine developing 152 hp (113 kW / 154 PS) and 145 lb-ft (196 Nm) of torque. That means the new base trim is not only cheaper, but also more powerful.

Impreza RS

The range-topping Impreza RS continues to cost $29,495 and appears to largely carry over. However, the car now comes equipped with an upgraded wireless smartphone charger that offers “enhanced performance.” This change appears to be accompanied by the aforementioned Ignition Red paint job and interior material revamp.
