The Rolls-Royce Spectre EV was launched toward the end of 2023, but the Goodwood-based automaker has already seen fit to launch a Series II, and unlike the Cullinan S2, Rolls-Royce hasn’t fiddled with the looks aside from adding a new color. Instead, it’s enhanced the capability of the car, with revised cell technology giving it 18 percent more range (390 miles on the WLTP cycle, or roughly 308 miles on the EPA cycle), quicker charging times (down 14 percent), and more power with the Black Badge. You now get 592 horsepower versus 577 hp in the S1, and in Infiniti mode, peak output jumps from 650 hp to 671 hp. That means the Black Badge continues to be the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever, and in Spirited Mode, torque rises to an earthmoving 811 lb-ft (normally 748 lb-ft). As this is a car aimed at those with a taste for the finer things in life, Goodwood has also added new choices. Let’s take a look.
Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II: More Scope for Customization
The new color available for the facelifted Spectre is called Ethereal Blue, and it’s accompanied by a new 23-inch forged wheel available in either part-polished or fully polished finishes, as pictured on a Black Badge here. Inside, customers have access to new materials and finishes, including Duality Twill, which uses a rayon fabric made from bamboo and is inspired by a bamboo grove on the Côte d’Azur. It features a ‘Duality’ graphic based on an interpretation of the two interlinked R initials of the brand and is meant to call to mind the interweaving ropes found on sailing yachts, another nod to the French Riviera. It uses as many as 2.6 million stitches and up to 10 miles of thread, taking 25 hours to craft. Customers can have this twill fabric in Lilac, Chocolate, Black, or the new Sage green color. For the embroidery, customers have more than 50 different thread colors to choose from.
One can also opt for ‘Placed Perforation’ leather, creating unique designs from precisely cut patterns. To show it off for the first time, Rolls-Royce created a design “inspired by the shifting silhouettes cast by clouds in moonlight.” Placed on the shoulder and headrest areas of the seats, it’s made up of 78,138 perforations in three sizes from 0.8 to 1.2 millimeters. These perforations can also be applied to the doors, helping make the Starlight panels look even more magical. The automaker has also updated the dashboard, or Gallery, which now spans the entire width of the fascia and features illuminated artwork with 8,108 individual lights. Set within the Gallery is a new timepiece with cast metal hands and an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy figurine made of solid stainless steel. Finally, a new Iced Black Exterior Detailing package gives the car’s exterior brightwork (excluding the Pantheon grille) a matte/satin finish, while a new wheelset with seven open spokes and a polished outer ring places emphasis on the Black Badge’s brakes by drawing attention to its glass flake finish, also available in Iced Matte Black.
Why Rolls-Royce Updated the Spectre So Soon
Rolls-Royce says most of its Spectre customers bought the EV as their second RR model, and it’s usually part of a seven-car garage, but even so, average annual mileage sits at an impressive 4,000 miles, with charging almost always happening at home. One owner covered a whopping 30,000 miles in the two years they’ve owned it, so buyers clearly enjoy the silent operation of an electric Rolls-Royce. Thus, making it better before early buyers clock too many miles is a good idea, giving the company’s customers an improved daily driver. Of course, pricing has not been announced, but if you have to ask…
