The Rivian R1T has made waves in the world of pickup trucks since its launch in 2021. Its unique design is instantly distinguishable from anything else on the road, and its heap of tech sets the model apart from other trucks on the market. At the same time, Rivian wanted to infuse its truck with a degree of rugged, outdoorsy character. The company accomplished this in part by using eco-friendly, nature-inspired materials in the interior. However, once you consider the R1T’s actual hauling capabilities, it becomes clear that the model is not suited to a working environment. For example, the 4.5-foot bed is too short to transport long building materials, such as lumber and drywall.
