People wouldn’t normally put their money on a turbodiesel inline-six engine in a traffic light drag race against a powerful V8, but if they saw BMW’s 335d from the late 2000s, they might yet be tempted. Its engine had tremendous low-speed shove, with a thumping amount of torque and the ability to get to 60 mph in about six seconds. Meanwhile, the same car also had very favorable fuel economy and could return up to 40 mpg in certain situations. And this makes the 335d a very interesting used car project today, as well as a little more than just a sensible-looking luxury sedan.
