Buyers Are Rumbling For The Tremor
Ford introduced the Tremor package for its 2020 model year F-250 and F-350 pickup trucks as a way to give some off-road flavor to the Super Duty. The name wasn’t brand-new, having been previously used on a sports truck called the F-150 Tremor, but the idea worked far better on the second go around, and Ford now has a full lineup of Tremor vehicles.

Tremor is currently having its best sales year ever, up 118% in the first half of 2026 compared to last year. Ford currently offers Tremor versions of the Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Super Duty (as a package), Explorer, and the Expedition. We recently tested the most family-friendly of the bunch, the 2026 Expedition Tremor, which Ford tell us is so popular, it makes up one-fourth (25%) of every Expedition sold.
The Family Raptor?
Calling the Expedition Tremor a “family Raptor” is a slight exaggeration, but it’s one of the closest things that exists to that hypothetical product in the full-size SUV segment. The Expedition literally uses the same 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 found in the F-150 Raptor, producing 440 horsepower (10 fewer than the Raptor) and the same amount of torque, 510 lb-ft. We recorded a pretty quick 5.5-second 0-60 mph time, putting it ahead of the Chevrolet Tahoe High Country (6.32 seconds) and Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro (6.14 seconds).

The Tremor also has the competition quaking in terms of off-road capability with a whopping 10.6 inches of ground clearance up front. Only the GMC Yukon AT4 even comes close with 10 inches. This rugged SUV also looks the part with 33-inch General Grabber all-terrain tires, Raptor-style running boards, hidden auxiliary lights, and orange accents. When properly equipped the Expedition Tremor can tow up to 9,300 pounds.
Room For Eight, Not Seven
We almost expect to open the rear doors of an expensive SUV and find captain’s chairs. They are lovely, but some families need to carry eight passengers, not seven. Ford knows this, and lets Expedition Tremor owners add a second-row bench for just $595. Each of the three seats can slide and recline individually, and there is ample space for three passengers in the third-row as well.

The Expedition now features a split-opening tailgate, a feature commonly associated with the BMW X5 and Range Rover, though the former recently dropped it. There is even a deployable table that can come in handy during a camping trip, and it turns into a useful seat for your child’s next soccer game.
Pricing & Competition
The 2027 Expedition Tremor starts at $85,690 (including a $2,795 destination fee), putting it just below the King Ranch in the Expedition’s four trim lineup. If you are looking for massive family haulers that boasts impressive off-road credentials, the Tremor is among the best.
- The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 is larger and cheaper, but has less ground clearance and fewer standard features. It also requires an optional engine to be competitive with the Tremor.
- The GMC Yukon AT4 is similar to the Tahoe Z71 but can approach the Tremor’s ground clearance with its optional air suspension. An available AT4 Ultimate trim is more luxurious but closer to a Navigator in terms of price.
- The Toyota Sequoia TRD if a hybrid that is slightly less expensive, but it has less space inside and less ground clearance.
