It was at the 1989 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, where Lexus, as a brand, came into existence, rolling out the original LS 400. No one knew it at the time, but the handsome four-door flagship sedan would go on to outclass its German and American rivals in comfort, refinement, and build quality. Plus, it undercut them by a huge margin and offered buyers red-carpet service through an entirely new dealer network.
