When Ford CEO Jim Farley said game on in response to Chevrolet beating the Mustang GTD’s American Nürburgring record last year, we figured it was more than just words. Now, at least part of that challenge is realized with a very impressive new time for GTD around the Nordschleife loop. Just hours after Manthey Racing announced the 911 GT3 RS with its kit had set a new record that was seven seconds quicker than the standard GTD, Ford has now managed to shave over 11 seconds off the GTD’s previous benchmark time. In the process, it’s blown the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X and 911 GT3 RS Manthey Kit away completely. Say hello to the new American king of the ‘Ring.
