Ford has taken the wraps off the new Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible. It arrives seven months after the coupe and is the company’s most powerful open-air pony car ever created.
Designed to be the “ultimate top-down grand touring machine,” the model shaves off some of the coupe’s rougher edges as the convertible aims to deliver a better balance of performance and comfort. As part of the revamp, the company specially tuned the “MagneRide suspension for street driving rather than lap times.”

Other than that, it’s essentially a Mustang Dark Horse SC with a soft top. The latter allows drivers to hear the “unfiltered sound” of the car’s supercharged 5.2-liter V8, which produces 795 hp (593 kW / 806 PS) and 660 lb-ft (894 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels.
Across three posts, Ford said virtually nothing of substance about the car. That’s sadly become common for the automaker, but they did mention the model offers a new Precision Purple Metallic paint job.
They also confirmed a “unique brake caliper color,” but never got around to saying what it is. However, judging by the pictures, it’s silver.
Ford went on to confirm a Black Onyx and Space Gray interior. The leather seats should carryover from the coupe and offer six-way power adjustment on the driver’s side as well as four-way power adjustment on the passenger side.
While the Blue Oval was coy on additional details, the coupe has a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch infotainment system, and a 12-speaker B&O audio system. They’re accompanied by aluminum pedals, an ambient lighting system, and dual-zone automatic climate control. We can also see carbon fiber trim, a rotary shifter, and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Speaking of carryover equipment, we can expect 20-inch wheels that are backed up by a Brembo braking system. Other highlights should include an active exhaust, launch control, and a carbon fiber drive shaft.
The Mustang Dark Horse SC Convertible goes up for order this fall and deliveries are scheduled for the spring of 2027. There’s no word on pricing, but the coupe starts at $106,090.
