With several high-performance and experimental sports cars on his resume, it’s not difficult to understand why General Motors engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov is known as the “father of the Corvette.” The man was so instrumental in the car’s continued development – especially in the 1960s and 1970s – that several more modern Corvettes have been rumored to bear his name. Most recently, we assumed the ZR1X would be called the Zora before Chevy announced its alphanumeric appellation.
