Dealer markups on hot ticket cars aren’t a new thing, but this 2027 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is an interesting case. The nearly new convertible has just sold for $441,000 on Bring a Trailer, despite carrying a $296,100 window sticker when it was new. That works out to a premium of $144,900, or nearly 49 percent over sticker. And this isn’t one with a glamorous history. It’s a dealer-sold ZR1X convertible with just five miles on the odometer. But there’s plenty to get excited about.Â

The ZR1X Is A 1,250-HP Hypercar In Corvette Clothing
The black-over-Adrenaline Red ZR1X is a 3LZ convertible equipped with the $13,000 Carbon Fiber Aero Package, $16,000 carbon-fiber wheels, and the ZTK Performance Track Package. It also gets carbon-ceramic brakes, a front-axle lift system, GT2 bucket seats, and a carbon-fiber retractable hardtop.

The ZR1X combines Chevrolet’s twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 with an electric motor powering the front wheels. The hybrid all-wheel-drive system produces a staggering 1,250 horsepower and 973 lb-ft of torque, making this the most powerful production Corvette ever built. Chevrolet claims the ZR1X can hit 60 mph in just 1.89 seconds and run the quarter-mile in 8.99 seconds at 157 mph. Those numbers have put the Corvette well into hypercar territory, with dealer markups to match.
A $145,000 Premium For A Five-Mile Corvette
This isn’t the first ZR1X to have a huge premium either. A 2027 ZR1X coupe with just eight miles sold on Bring a Trailer for $402,000 in September, despite having a $290,289 sticker price. That makes the latest result quite interesting. The convertible brought another $39,000 over the earlier coupe, even though both were essentially brand-new dealer cars.

Of course, paying $441,000 for a Corvette doesn’t suddenly make the ZR1X a $441,000 car in a Chevrolet showroom. But it does signal the extent buyers can go to own one of America’s newest performance machines. Whoever won the auction, the biggest question is how long that five-mile odometer reading will last.
