Dodge Charger SIXPACK Gaining Ground
By September, Charger SIXPACK sales had exploded – over 8,000 units, which is a wild 330% jump from last year. Clearly, the ICE-powered Charger is on a roll, and Dodge isn’t about to let that momentum slip away.
According to a new report, the Dodge Charger will get its long-awaited Hemi V8. Now, we’ve heard of that before, but this time the report says it could happen as early as next year. That’s good news for traditional muscle car buyers who have long associated the Charger with the sound and character of a Hemi V8.

Hellcat V8 Allegedly Arriving for the 2028 Model Year
Automotive News claims Stellantis is gunning to build a supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 Charger starting late 2027, with the 2028 model year as the target. Supposedly, a planning doc says they’re aiming for about 12,000 units a year.
Of course, there’s a catch. When pressed, Stellantis called the whole thing speculation and rumor, refusing to spill any official details about what’s coming down the pipeline. Earlier rumors teased a Hellcat-powered Charger packing over 700 horsepower. But with nothing confirmed, the specs, body style, and launch date are all still floating in the rumor ether.
For now, late 2027 is our best clue for when the V8 might roar back, but don’t take it as gospel – Dodge hasn’t made anything official yet.

The Hemi Magic
There’s a reason Stellantis is supposedly giving the Hemi V8 another shot, even with those new turbo sixes putting up solid numbers. For a lot of American buyers, muscle cars are about more than just 0-60 times. It’s the sound, the attitude, and the history that make the magic.
Ram offers a useful example of what that enthusiasm can mean for sales. After bringing back the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 for the Ram 1500, the brand recorded a 73% increase in full-size pickup sales during the third quarter of 2026 compared with the same period last year. Ram’s overall brand sales also rose 29%, according to Stellantis’ latest figures.
Sure, that sales spike isn’t just about the engine – other models and updates played a part. But the Hemi’s comeback proves there’s still a crowd that wants a V8 under the hood
Dodge looks ready to chase that same V8-hungry crowd with the Charger. The SIXPACK has already put the gas-powered lineup on the map, but dropping in a supercharged V8 could give diehards one more reason to put the Charger on their wish list.
