Bugatti‘s quad-turbocharged W16 engine is the stuff of engineering and performance dreams. While it may not have been the most expressive engine, it certainly bested all when it came to sheer power and speed. Over the years, it has found a home in three distinct Bugatti models, the Veyron, Chiron, and Mistral, with power figures breaching well past 1,000 hp for all models.

After countless years in production, the W16’s swansong was announced as the Mistral, with the hypercar maker set to move on with new engine technology. Since then, the Mistral has been a highly coveted Bugatti, representing the very best of the outgoing era of the famed automaker; one fine example is now listed for auction.

321-Mile Mistral

RM Sotheby’s lists a 2025 Bugatti Mistral with an estimated sale price of $7.5 million to $9.5 million. The name Mistral comes from the Mediterranean wind that sweeps through Southern France. As mentioned, the Mistral is the final production Bugatti to be powered by the 8.0-liter W16, which, in this case, makes a massive 1,578 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. It has a sub-two-second 0-60 mph time and a top speed of 282 mph, making it the fastest open-top car ever made.

This particular Mistral is one of just 99 examples ever built, and has only traveled 321 miles. In fact, some photos reveal that protective plastics placed on the car during its initial release are still present on some interior panels. It is finished in a combination of Italian Red and Nocturne with an interior pairing of Italian Red and Beluga Black leather.

Double Trouble

As if the Mistral wasn’t expensive enough, this car comes equipped with over $325,000 in factory options, surely driving up the value of this Mistral more than others.

When it was first sold last year, the base price of the Bugatti Mistral was already at a cool $5.1 million. This listing by RM Sotheby’s proves that in just one year, the market value of the Mistral is headed for a massive increase, almost double what the car cost when new if the $9.5 million estimate is hit during auction.
