Lotus is once again going through a rough patch. In 2025, the company laid off 550 people from its headquarters in Hethel, England, which accounted for 40% of the workforce. The move came after the British automaker reported a net loss of more than $1 billion in 2024. To help bolster its business, Lotus started looking for a partner, with the intention of building another brand’s products.
