Audi is letting us peek into the interior of their upcoming, biggest ever SUV, the 2027 Q9. It’s going to be Audi’s first really large SUV and will go head to head with the most expensive three-row vehicles, putting more emphasis on how comfortable you are, the technology within, and your overall time inside the car.

Before the SUV is officially shown later this year, Audi has shared details about the Q9’s roomy interior, expensive materials and some new equipment that Audi hasn’t used before.
Audi considers the Q9 their new top-of-the-line SUV and you’ll be able to get it with six or seven seats. Those who want the most comfort can choose ‘captain’s chairs’ in the second row with electric adjustment, and the regular seven-seat setup is more about easily fitting the whole family.

Audi says getting into the very back is easier than in their previous SUVs because the second-row seats slide forward electrically, and you don’t have to take out the child seats to do it.
The inside is designed to feel more like a relaxing lounge than a typical SUV, using high-quality materials, matte finishes and fresh decorative details to create a more sophisticated atmosphere, and to avoid fingerprints and reflections.

And a rather unusual feature: all four doors are fully electric. This is a first for Audi; you can open any of the doors by pressing a button, using the car key, the entertainment system in the car, or the myAudi phone app.
Audi also says the system ‘sees’ things and won’t let the doors open if a cyclist or passing car is too close in busy city streets.
This feature feels very much aimed at people buying luxury SUVs who might also be considering a Range Rover or Mercedes-Benz GLS.

There’s a huge panoramic sunroof covering around 16 square feet. You can darken sections of it electronically with an optional PDLC transparency system. Audi adds that the roof has 84 LEDs, and they can show 30 different colors to match the interior ambient lighting.
Audi is continuing to really focus on the digital experience within the cabin and the Q9 has a new Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system. This has ‘actuators’ in the front seats, helping you feel the music.

It also has a full-width LED strip at the base of the windscreen that reacts to the music and what the car is doing. Plus speakers in the headrests for directions and phone calls; Audi are clearly saying the Q9 is more of a luxury place to travel than just a vehicle to get people from A to B.
Audi will fully reveal the Q9 on July 28, 2026.
