After long serving as Honda’s technological performance flagship for the mainstream, the 2000-model-year Prelude looked on as its sporty new two-seat, rear-drive sibling, the S2000, arrived to join it on showroom floors. The two flagship models coexisted for just a brief moment before the Prelude was retired after 2001, bringing a long and storied chapter of Honda’s front-drive performance era to a close. This era deserves to be remembered with gratitude, not sadness.
