Forget about full-self-driving or Robotaxis, one of the most anticipated Tesla promises has been the cheap EV one. It has been one of the biggest and longest-standing issues for the company over the last decade. The latest promise was made just last spring when CEO Elon Musk said on the company’s earnings call that Tesla was accelerating a $25,000 EV: A new model, sitting below the Model 3, which would be built using a new production method shared with the then-not-yet-revealed Robotaxi models that Musk said would save the company big on assembly.
