Recently, news broke that four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen had broken a Nürburgring lap record during his first official practice session around the 12.9-mile German circuit. Verstappen, who completed the run aboard a Ferrari 296 GT3 under the pseudonym Franz Hermann, and when asked in a pre-race interview ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix whether he had broken the Nordschleife lap record for GT3 machinery, stated it was true. The record has yet to be officially verified, though, as neither the Dutchman nor the team manager have revealed the lap time. But rumors said it may have been as much as two seconds faster.
