Volkswagen is late in bringing its new Scalable Systems Platform, or SSP, to market, which is a new electrified powertrain setup designed to underpin the next generation of Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche EVs. The automaker promised SSP would be ready by now, but had to delay things due to reported issues with its software division Cariad, which eventually led VW to turn to Rivian for a new partnership in developing future software for VW models. Now, VW has reportedly locked down the engineering plan for the new chassis, and there’s a bit of a surprise.
