While drivers based in the US have been lucky enough to experience some awesome hot hatches over the years, such as the legendary Volkswagen Golf GTI and Mazdaspeed 3, some forbidden fruits have remained elusive. The agile Renault Megane 225 never made it across the Atlantic, and neither did the peppy Honda Civic Type R EP3. Another good example of a hot hatch the US missed out on is the VW Polo GTI, which sits below the Golf in the German brand’s model line.
