Mercedes-Benz’s G-Wagen has always been a symbol of rugged utility, timeless style, and status. Expedition Motor Company’s latest restomod, the 250GD LWB, stretches that legacy even further. This long-wheelbase cabriolet combines open-air luxury with classic off-road capability, extra passenger space, and bespoke upgrades. We’ve recently driven EMC’s standard Wolf 250GD, and it’s clear that their creations give customers everything they want from a cool, classic car without the expected headaches.
Stretched Body with Convertible Roof

EMC has been modifying classic G-Wagens since 2017, but for the very first time, the New Jersey-based company created a long-wheelbase layout that can carry up to eight passengers. The two new sideways-facing rear seats allow four smaller passengers to enjoy the open-air experience, while a removable black top covers the sports bars when needed, and a fold-down windshield further enhances the topless feel. Outside, the stretched G-Wagen gains LED lights and is finished in EMC Racing Green with 18-inch matte black wheels, 12.5-inch all-terrain tires, side steps, and a steel bash plate retaining the original G-Wagen’s off-road capability.
Two Engines to Choose From

Power comes from the 3.0-liter OM606a inline-six turbodiesel, producing 275 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. If you want even more oomph, EMC offers an optional LS3 V8 swap with 430 horsepower. Every mechanical and cosmetic upgrade has been executed with precision, taking over 2,500 man-hours to complete, and the car comes with a one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Spacious and Authentic G-Wagen Interior

Inside, the 250GD LWB remains largely untouched, preserving the military-inspired interior of the 1993 donor car. EMC added a Dark Brown weatherproof interior, a new steering wheel, gauge cluster, and some modern tech like an infotainment screen and heated seats. The result is a cabin that feels like a time capsule. Combined with the long-wheelbase layout, powerful engines, and top-notch craftsmanship, this cabriolet restomod of the classic G-Wagen is a unicorn. Not even the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class can match the sheer cool factor of the restomod – or come close on price. EMC has this 1993 Mercedes-Benz 250GD Long Wheelbase V5 listed for $252,850.
