There has been a lot of backpedaling in the automotive industry of late. First, automakers realized that electric vehicle demand was vastly exaggerated, which resulted in a course correction to a future that now includes way more hybrids and plug-in hybrids than ever before. Secondly, Americans are not into downsizing. Stellantis spent a lot of money on the Hurricane inline-six, only for folks to take one look at it and go, “nah.”
