Recall. The very word is enough to send a mean shiver down the spine of any automotive brand executive. In short, a recall is an unfortunate part of producing cars. When a component is found to have widespread issues, a recall is issued, requiring the manufacturer to fix or replace the faulty component(s) free of charge. All the owner needs to do is bring it to a nearby brand-associated dealership. Recalls have a negative effect on manufacturers in two ways: they’re expensive, and they can seriously hurt the brand’s reputation.
