South Korea plays a major role in the global auto industry. Beyond international brands such as Hyundai and Kia, General Motors also has a significant presence there, thanks to its acquisition of the Daewoo Motors brand around the turn of the millennium. GM Korea soon began operating out of the former Daewoo factory in the South Korean city of Incheon. The plant currently builds four vehicles sold in the US: the Chevrolet Trailblazer, Chevrolet Trax, Buick Envista, and Buick Encore GX.
