One of the biggest automotive tragedies of the late 2000s was the death of Pontiac. A brand – once the face of affordable performance icons like the GTO and Firebird – lost its way, turning into little more than a rebadged economy brand with not much more to offer than GM’s other brands. However, necessity is the mother of invention and, out of the sea of generic offerings, came a model that likely should have been awash like many others, but turned out to be Pontiac’s last great gift to the world.
