Like it or loathe it, certain technologies can take all the guesswork out of driving and do all the heavy lifting for you, with constantly variable transmissions (CVTs) the name of the game when it comes to an infinitely variable transmission that is always in the right gear and at its most efficient. Many people think that some of the Japanese heavyweights like Honda, Subaru, or Nissan may be responsible for the first CVT for automotive use, with many pointing to the 1987 Subaru Justy, but actually, the tech originated a long time ago in the Netherlands.
