- Antonio Filosa is the new CEO of Stellantis, six months after the resignation of Carlos Tavares.
- Filosa has previously served as Jeep CEO, and Stellantis chief for North and South America.
- He is tasked with helping the group recover after a difficult year of tanking profits and poor sales.
The long search for someone to succeed the departed Carlos Tavares as the head of Stellantis is over. Following a “thorough search process of internal and external candidates”, the group’s Board of Directors has unanimously selected Antonio Filosa as the new CEO, effective June 23.
The high ranking executive was born in Naples, Italy in 1973. He has spent 25 years in the company, starting his career from Fiat back in 1999. Over the years, he climbed up the ladder to lead Stellantis operations in North and South America.

More specifically, Filosa was appointed Chief Operating Officer for South America in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) in 2018, a role he retained even after the merger with PSA in 2021. After playing a vital role in expanding Jeep to Brazil, he became Jeep CEO between November 2023 and February 2025 and focused on recovering sales and expanding the brand’s presence to Europe.
During the latest management shakeup after the resignation of Carlos Tavares in December 2024, Filosa got promoted to Chief Operating Officer for the Americans and Chief Quality Officer.
He assumes duties in a difficult time for Stellantis, with profits sinking 70% in 2024. Indicative of his views is a statement he made earlier this year, when he said that the US retail market is their “main priority” on the road to reverse the downward trend in global sales.

According to the official announcement, a Special Committee of the Board, led by Executive Chairman John Elkann, chose Filosa as the new CEO based on “his proven track record of hands-on success during his more than 25 years in the automotive industry, the depth and span of his experience around the world, his unrivalled knowledge of the Company and his recognized leadership qualities”.
When he will officially assume the role of CEO on June 23, Filosa will announce a new leadership team for Stellantis.
Elkann, who will keep his role as Executive Chairman, said: “I have worked closely with Antonio over the past six months during which time his responsibilities have increased, and his strong and effective leadership spanning both North and South America at a moment of unprecedented challenge have confirmed the excellent qualities he brings to the role.”

On his part, Filosa made the following statement: “It is my great honor to be named the CEO of this fantastic Company. I am grateful to our Chairman, John Elkann, and to the members of our Board for their leadership, particularly in these recent months, and for the confidence they have placed in me to lead our business during this pivotal time for our industry.”
Stellantis’ new CEO added: “I have always been inspired by the immense talent, passion and commitment of our people at Stellantis and the power of trusting our teams to achieve excellence. We have the world’s best and most iconic brands in automotive history and an over 100-year heritage of innovation. That legacy, combined with our relentless dedication to giving our customers the products and services they love, will continue to be key to our success.”
