While we don’t have much of a soft spot towards hot hatchbacks here in the States, things are a bit different in Europe. Tons of folks love the hot hatch, and have done since the original Volkswagen Golf GTI was introduced in 1976. Once VW’s hot hatch titan hit the market, a whole host of European brands began scrambling to produce their own iteration. In some ways, the Euro hot hatch wars were akin to the classic American muscle car era.
