Ram has been on a mission to give truck buyers what they want over the last couple of months. Not only did it bring back the Hemi V8 engine option after controversially killing it off, but the manufacturer has now reintroduced the 1500 Rebel X for the 2026 model year. Driven by customer demand, the Rebel X slots in at the higher end of the Ram 1500 lineup. It gets solid power, advanced off-road technology, and sporty exterior/interior touches.
The Most Advanced Rebel Yet
2026 Ram 1500 Rebel X Stellantis
Based on the Ram 1500 Rebel, the Rebel X adds even more performance equipment to the mix. It has the same standard 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine as the normal Rebel, which produces 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. The Rebel X will be offered as an upgrade package for the Rebel, building on the Rebel 2 Equipment Group. The following upgrades apply to the Rebel X:
- Dual-pane panoramic sunroof
- Console-mounted leather-wrapped performance shifter
- Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters
- Premium leather/vinyl bucket seats with red accent stitching
- Red-accented glass encased “Rebel X” center console badge
- “Rebel X” bedside graphics
- Rough Road Cruise Control
The Rough Road Cruise Control is a highlight. It maintains a speed of up to 20 mph in off-road environments, automatically adjusting the suspension damping and steering weight as the terrain changes. This allows the driver to focus on wheel placement and maneuvering around obstacles.

A new color option called Tank Clear Coat debuts with the Rebel X. Inspired by Military Green, this shade will be available on other select Ram 1500s, too.
Pricing and Rivals
Chevrolet
The Ram 1500 Rebel X is available for order now, with prices starting at $71,930, including destination and the Rebel Level 2 Equipment Group. This Equipment Group normally costs $2,795 on the standard Rebel, which itself starts at $65,445. Included with this package are features like a 14.4-inch touchscreen display, a 19-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a power tailgate, and power-adjustable pedals—those are just a few of the many extras. All told, the Rebel X does look like a worthwhile upgrade over the standard Rebel.
A close competitor is undoubtedly the Ford F-150 Tremor, which starts at $64,915. This pickup gets off-road shocks, Trail Control with Trail 1-Pedal Drive, skid plates, and much more. You can add the Tremor 402B Equipment Group, bringing the price into the vicinity of the Rebel X. This package adds a front axle with a Torsen differential, a hi-lock transfer case, and special leather-trimmed seats, among other things. The Ford’s standard 382-hp V6 isn’t as powerful as the Rebel X’s straight-six, though.
At $71,800, Chevy’s Silverado 1500 ZR2 is also worth a look. This pickup comes with a high-performance lifted suspension, multimatic DSSV dampers, and a turbodiesel engine.
Final Thoughts
Ram’s pickup sales are still strong, but they were over 200,000 units short of Chevy’s and even further adrift of Ford’s in 2025. This explains why Ram is optimizing the 1500 range and giving customers exactly what they want, be it V8s, more off-road variants, or the segment’s best warranty. The high-performance 1500 TRX halo model is also making a comeback, complete with a 777-hp supercharged V8.
Still, the Ram 1500 is now the oldest of the big 3 full-size trucks in America, with the current generation having gone into production early in 2018. With Chevy planning to reveal an all-new Silverado later this year, Ram will need more than a new trim or two to stay in contention.
