- Killa Conversions swapped the Ranger’s V6 for a supercharged V8 from a Mustang.
- A beefier 10-speed automatic transmission is also included to handle the added power.
- The modified Ranger Raptor costs around AU$190K, a hefty price for a mid-sized pickup.
Most would agree that Ford did a fine job with the Ranger Raptor. Packing a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6, it not only sounds good, but delivers up to 405 hp and can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in less than 6 seconds, keeping up with a hot hatch easily.
But why settle for good enough when you can have something more outrageous? Enter Killa Conversions, an Australian tuner who decided to ditch the V6 and swap it out for something a little more unhinged: a V8. Not just any V8, though.

Killa Conversions has swapped in Ford’s Coyote Gen3 5.0-liter V8 from a Mustang, complete with a Roush supercharger that cranks the power up to a staggering 750 hp and 670 lb-ft of torque. That’s a serious jump in power, and it’s enough to make the original engine look like an afterthought.
Now, you might be asking yourself, “Why not just go with a Ford F-150 Raptor R?” The F-150 Raptor R packs a 720-hp, supercharged 5.2-liter V8 and would seem like a more obvious choice. However, there’s one problem: Ford doesn’t sell the F-150 Raptor R in Australia. So for Aussie enthusiasts, this might be the next best thing, especially if you’re not shy about spending big to get something a bit… different.
Aside from the engine swap, Killa Conversions has also fitted the Ranger Raptor with a beefier 10-speed automatic transmission to handle the increased power.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about the whole powertrain swap is that the Aussie tuner says all of the Ranger’s standard features and safety equipment work just the same as they did when the truck left the factory. Now, it just has a supercharged V8, as opposed to a twin-turbocharged V6. There’s no word on how much weight was added by the larger engine and transmission, but drivers are unlikely to notice any differences from behind the wheel.
The Price Tag
Now, the fun part – the price. In Australia, a new Ranger Raptor costs just over AU$90,000 (about $57,600). Killa Conversions’ upgrades come in at an additional AU$89,000 (around $57,000), bringing the grand total to about AU$190,000 (roughly $121,600).
That’s a lot of money, especially for a mid-sized pickup. But let’s be real; it’s probably as much fun to drive as any sports car that costs the same. And who doesn’t want a truck with a Mustang heart and a supercharged V8 roar?
