It’s not often we drive a new vehicle and feel as though it has forever changed the automotive landscape. In fact, it hasn’t happened since we drove the Tesla Model 3 back in 2018. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is such a vehicle. It’s a 641-horsepower crossover – let us state that again for emphasis – a six-hundred and forty-one horsepower crossover, that happens to be electric. Remarkably, the last part of that statement lacks any shock value in 2025. Ok, it’s powerful; so what? There are dozens of ridiculously quick electric SUVs on the market that can all rip down a drag strip quicker than whatever supercar you had taped on your bedroom wall as a kid. What makes the Ioniq 5 N so special? This is the first (and certainly not the last) fast EV that fully matches the excitement of a gas-powered sports car for us.
