Like every automaker on the planet, Porsche is staring into an uncertain future and trying to figure out the best way forward. The safest bet seems to be a multi-powertrain strategy that doesn’t play favorites. For automakers, that means protecting market share that has relied on internal-combustion engines for decades, including recent hybrids and plug-in hybrids, while leaving the door open for battery-electric vehicles.
