Another JDM Forbidden Fruit
Chevrolet-Corvette’s got a good following in Japan, enough for the Golden Bowtie to have some limited editions, apparently. The latest in the lineup is a Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray convertible called the “V8 Tourer.”
So even American cars are now in Japan with their own specifications and trim levels. Now, while it may seem that the Japanese are going to keep all the good stuff for themselves again, this is not the case because this particular Corvette Convertible got a slight debuff compared to the C8s we’re currently getting in the United States.

V8 Tourer
Information about the new trim is available on Chevrolet Japan’s website, and there is also an additional tidbit that you ought to know about the V8 Tourer. Apparently, this JDM spec is limited edition, with only 15 units available, making it a very rare C8 Corvette. The production number alone might be enough to whet Corvette collectors’ appetites, but there is a catch apart from its exclusive availability in Japan.
The limited production is intriguing, but this spec doesn’t get the updated 6.7-liter small-block engine that the U.S. gets. Instead, it comes with the 6.2-liter small-block V8 that makes 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s a stark contrast to the 2027 model-year Corvettes in the United States with the 6.7-liter. The V8 Tourer gets about 40 horses less than the new C8s with the 6.7-liter V8, but its cosmetic enhancements can still make it a desirable model.
For starters, the edition is painted in Red Mist Metallic tintcoat paint, complemented by Sterling Silver racing stripes that cover the hood, roof, and the rear spoiler. In addition to the paint job, it features a modest rear spoiler, a red engine cover, and black painted brake calipers under forged aluminum wheels in nickel with a five-spoke design.
The interior is also in tan leather, contrasted with black leather throughout, leaning into the “Tourer” name. You also get GT2 bucket seats and special badges on this limited edition, which is also a nice upgrade over the standard seats. You could say the color scheme harks back to the cars that come out of Maranello, but I digress. It’s not a bad way to spec out a C8 Corvette.

Price and Availability
As stated, the Chevrolet Corvette V8 Tourer will be limited to 15 units and will be sold only in Japan. The asking price is 21,500,000 JPY, or about $136,000. Compared to standard models in Japan, the brand is asking an additional $12,000 on top of the standard C8 Corvette convertible.
In summary, Chevrolet Japan is selling a limited-edition C8 Convertible with a 6.2-liter V8 instead of the 6.7-liter V8 we get in the United States, but the exterior and interior upgrades are noteworthy, as are the special badges and the limited production. I’d argue, however, that you could still spec out a USDM Corvette similarly, and you’ll also get the updated 6.7-liter V8. Japan still sells Corvettes with the 6.2-liter, but it won’t be long before the new 6.7-liter V8 arrives in the Pacific.
