After nearly 10 years, General Motors has announced its intention to pull the plug on the 6.6-liter L5P Duramax diesel V8. To replace it, the company is introducing the all-new 8.3-liter L6P Duramax diesel V8, nicknamed “Mongoose.” Being such an enormous engine, its power figures follow suit. The powerplant will hit the market in time for the 2027 model year and will debut in the Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD trucks.
