Safety Pioneers
Safety is now something all automakers take very seriously because customers now demand it from them. In the past, only a few brands were leading the charge when it comes to making sure you’re as protected as possible while driving your car; one of those brands was Volvo.
The Swedish automaker is still a safety-first brand, as evidenced by its high scores when it comes to crash and safety testing; the current EX90 has a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS. Never one to rest on its laurels in the safety department, Volvo is introducing upgraded Connected Safety Features for the EX90 and EX60.

Driver Alert Hazards
Volvo just announced that it is launching a software update for the Connected Safety Features found in the EX90 and EX60. The update will give the safety suite new capabilities such as:
- The Large Animal Alert can warn other drivers if a large animal is detected on or near the road ahead. Â
- The Vulnerable Road User Alert can warn other drivers if pedestrians and cyclists are detected ahead on or near highways.Â
- The Roadwork Alert can warn other drivers when roadwork is detected ahead. Â
- The Accident Ahead Alert can warn other drivers of accidents further ahead, using real-time data from connected Volvo cars or traffic management centers.Â
According to the brand, these new features are designed to expand the safety system’s ability to provide clear, early warnings, especially in lower-visibility situations, and complement existing features like Slippery Road Alert and Hazard Light Alert. Those who have active Connected Safety Technology have access to the European Data for Road Safety ecosystem, which can share alerts with cars from other brands and national traffic management centers, contributing to safer roads for everyone. Â

Enhanced Audio Experience
Apart from the updated safety features, Volvo also chose to improve the sound system of the EX90. A new update now gives the 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system Spatial Audio support when using Apple CarPlay. The technology is enhanced through Dolby Atmos and gives EX90 drivers a multi-dimensional and more immersive cabin listening experience.
