Mercedes-AMG gave less than 24 hours notice that it was dropping an all-new model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. And that model is the new AMG CLA-Class. Whereas the old CLA 45 had up to 416 horsepower in the US, the new one is up to 670 hp, not from a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder but from a tri-motor electric powertrain. That’s right, this is an electric AMG CLA, and that’s bad news not just because of the general anti-EV sentiment, but because it means it’s not on the radar of Mercedes-Benz USA — at least not yet.
