It should probably come as no surprise that American automakers have been playing up their patriotic roots as the country is celebrating its 250th anniversary on July 4 – and as tariffs have punished every brand that wants to sell cars in the US that aren’t built here. Cadillac flew the “Stars and Stripes” livery during the recent F1 race in Miami. Chevrolet is selling “Stars and Steel” special-edition pickup trucks and C8 Corvettes, and Ford CEO Jim Farley has called Ford the “most American automaker” numerous times in recent months, based on US assembly locations and workforce.
