- The additional 50 miles of range are the result of a new AWD-Disconnect system.
- The entire 2026 Grecale lineup benefits from additional customization options.
Maserati might be battling with slow sales, but they are not giving up on their most popular SUV – the Grecale. The Trident brand has launched a few updates for the 2026 MY, centered around the fully electric Folgore trim that can now go further between charges.
The Grecale Folgore was launched in 2023 with dual electric motors producing 550 hp (410 kW / 557 PS), and an 105 kWh battery offering 500 km (311 miles) of WLTP range. While the specifications of the electric powertrain remain unchanged for 2026, Maserati has introduced a new “AWD-Disconnect system” which is said to increase range to 580 km (360 miles).

When AWD is not required, the system sends power to the rear wheels, bringing a significant reduction in energy consumption, resulting in an extra 80 km (50 miles) of zero-emission range. The process takes place automatically in just 500 milliseconds and includes physically disengaging the front axle shafts from the hubs. According to the company, this is more efficient than disconnecting at the motor or differential level.
In order to decide when to engage or disengage AWD, the vehicle monitors various parameters using sensors and advanced algorithms. Depending on torque demand, brake temperature, road gradient, instantaneous speed and acceleration, selected driving mode, outside temperature, and activation of vehicle dynamic control systems, the system makes sure drivers get the performance they need from the electric SUV.
The Folgore accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.1 seconds, making it the second quickest Grecale behind the V6-powered Trofeo that completes the same sprint in 3.8 seconds. On the contrary, the EV has the lowest top speed among its siblings as it is limited at 220 km/h (137 mph).

The electric version of the Grecale retains the remote climate control, automatic battery preconditioning, and EV Routing functions. The latter features a new Dynamic Range Mapping function, providing a visual representation of the maximum distance achievable with the remaining range in the built-in navigation system.
More Customization
Besides extending the range of the Folgore, Maserati has also expanded customization options for the entire 2026 MY Grecale lineup. The color palette includes 11 options, plus 32 shades from the Fuoriserie Programme (6 of them are new). There are also eight interior colors, eight seat options, four finishes for the brake callipers, and six designs for the alloy wheels if you include the Folgore-exclusive alloys.
Maserati didn’t announce pricing for the 2026 Grecale lineup, but we don’t expect significant changes compared to the previous model years.
