Audi’s high-performance “S” vehicles have been making splashes for so long, it’s hard to remember a time before them. Sedan and wagon variants have been around the longest, but the crossover versions are a much more recent invention, and the first to wear the venerable badge was the Q5. The brand’s volume-selling crossover was a perfect fit for more power, but the company surprised the world when, in 2012, it unveiled that the first SQ5 would be powered by a twin-turbo diesel engine.
