A recent recall of more than half a million vehicles powered by General Motors’ L87 6.2-liter V8 engine is a headache that just won’t go away. Following an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), General Motors recalled the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, and other models using the engine for defects that could cause it to fail. A lawsuit was filed soon after when it was found the repairs had reduced each vehicle’s fuel economy, leading to higher maintenance costs for owners.
