Toyota introduced the downsized Land Cruiser in the U.S. for the 2024 model year, and it’s now ready for a few gentle updates for 2027. A lot smaller and more efficient than the old one, the latest Land Cruiser is still a formidable off-roader. Sales are down by 47.6% in 2026 so far, though, so Toyota will be hoping that some new features for 2027 can attract buyers to this Ford Bronco competitor. A small price increase accompanies the updates, but Toyota has retained the simple two-trim lineup. Here’s everything that’s new ahead of the 2027 Land Cruiser’s arrival in spring 2026.
2027 Land Cruiser Updates

For the new model year, the Land Cruiser will be available with new features that increase off-road capability and interior comfort. Buyers can now equip the SUV with a high-mounted air intake, which should improve the Toyota’s ability to wade through deeper water. This feature is an option on both trims.
On the more expensive Land Cruiser trim, heated and ventilated second-row seats are now available as part of the Land Cruiser Premium Package. This package includes a 14-speaker JBL sound system, a power moonroof, wireless charging, a head-up display, and more. The base 1958 trim has heated front seats, but its rear seats can’t be heated or ventilated. The only other update is a new exterior color called Inked, which doesn’t cost extra.Â

These updates are minor, but the most important parts of the Land Cruiser remain untouched. It comes with the same 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder i-Force Max engine producing 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. A full-time 4×4 system is standard, and both trims can be equipped with a stabilizer bar disconnect mechanism.Â

How Much Does It Cost?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser’s price has gone up at base level, but the top Land Cruiser trim is actually cheaper. Here’s a look at 2026 and 2027 pricing.

For an extra $4,845, the top trim gets quite a few extras, including:
- Power rear liftgate
- 12.3-inch digital meter and 12.3-inch touchscreen
- SofTex-trimmed upholstery with power driver’s seat
- Ventilated front seats
- Powered steering wheel
- Available Land Cruiser Premium Package
Since the two trims are now closer in price, we’d be tempted to go for the top model, which feels quite a bit more premium inside. That being said, you can get a well-equipped Ford Bronco Heritage Edition with a 330-hp V6 for around the same price as the base Land Cruiser.
Final Thoughts

Toyota
The Land Cruiser nameplate is iconic and the 2027 lives up to expectations with genuine off-roading chops. On tighter trails, the smaller size of this generation is welcome, too. It also has a powerful hybrid that keeps efficiency reasonable. Not much has changed for 2027, though, so we’d recommend considering a nearly new 2026 model if you want to get a Land Cruiser for closer to $50k.Â
It remains to be seen if the Land Cruiser’s decline in early 2026 sales is just a blip or represents a bigger problem with the SUV’s current positioning. If the decline continues, Toyota will need to consider more than a smattering of new features for the tough SUV.
