Porsche has long viewed motorsport as a proving ground for improving road cars, and no model showcases this philosophy more clearly than the 911, which Porsche raced from the earliest days. In the 1970s, Porsche was dominating racetracks on both sides of the Atlantic with a special race car dubbed the 911 Carrera RSR.
