Technological advances have the funny effect of spoiling mankind. Think about the first time you used Apple CarPlay (a Ferrari breakthrough) or sailed through a traffic jam with adaptive cruise control (thank you, Lexus LS). It probably felt like magic, right? But now that you’ve become used to it, you scoff when you have to suffer a few hours in a stripped-out rental car. It’s the same with any modern advance. Heck, there was a time when humanity was expected to dig a hole or squat against a tree every time nature called, and now we handle that task with much more dignity (and a mobile supercomputer in our hands).
